Frequently asked
questions

The cabins sit just outside the small village of Dermitziana, approximately 50 km from Chania Airport, surrounded by olive groves and open land. The area is quiet, with little passing traffic and wide views. The last part of your ride to reach us is a dirt road. There is private parking just below the stairs up to the cabin, on the fields.

The easiest way to reach us is by rental car, which is unquestionably the best way to experience this part of Crete. You may also arrive by taxi directly from the airport, or take a bus to Kissamos and continue by taxi from there. If you don’t want to rent a car, there is always the option of renting an electric bike to explore the nearest area.

Since google maps directions won’t take you the whole way to the cabins, we suggest meeting at a nearby meeting point, especially if you arrive after dark. If you prefer more flexibility, you are of course welcome to use our key box, though be prepared for a possible adventure along the Cretan dirt roads. For the key box option, please ask for specific directions.

Our check-in time is 15.00 and check-out time is 12.00 midday.

The vegetable garden is at its peak during June to October, where you’ll find tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, aubergines, zucchinis, peppers and herbs like mint and oregano.

We have a cancellation policy with full refund for cancellations made within 48 hours of booking, if the check-in date is at least 14 days away. 50% refund for cancellations made at least 1 month before check-in. Instead of cancelling, we can always look at options for a re-booking.

Wi-Fi is available in both cabins for your convenience.

For stays longer than five days, we provide an in-between cleaning every three days.

No, we don't have TV:s.

Inside the cabin, you’ll find three different coffee options and our own olive oil, produced from the trees surrounding you. We also offer a hand-picked selection of local wines. These work like a mini-bar, where you pay for what you drink. Towels, linens, and bath amenities are of course always included.

Families are very welcome; please note, however, that the cabins are open plan and feature one double bed. An older child can sleep on the sofa. The cabins are set directly within the olive grove, perched on a small hill, and are unfenced (except for the balcony), allowing you to feel fully immersed in nature. We do not charge extra for additional guests.

We are open eleven months of the year. Crete during autumn or winter is much more dramatic with lusher, greener but wilder nature. We have approximately five hours of sunshine in December. Heating during the colder months is provided by air conditioning and a wood-burning stove. We supply all the firewood you’ll need. In summer, the air conditioning ensures a pleasant indoor temperature.

You are welcome to come for a workcation and stay for a longer period.

Many guests choose to spend most of their time at the cabins, cooking, reading, walking, or simply resting. Others use the retreat as a base to explore the surrounding coastline and countryside at an unhurried pace. The cabins are equipped with a full kitchen and all necessary cutlery.

Within a short drive, you’ll find world-known beaches for swimming (or hidden hideaways), tavernas and restaurants with delicious Cretan cuisine, amazing hike trails and local villages. The town of Kissamos is nearby, with cafés, supermarkets and shops. We will send you our best tips for the extended area, so if you’re in the mood for exploring, you will definitely not be bored.
